An avid
chamber musician, Tomas Cotik, has performed extensively with various different
groups performing duos to octets in the United States and Europe. Tomas has
collaborated in performances with members from the Cleveland, Miami, Pro Arte and
Vogler String Quartets among others.
Most recently
he was the first violinist of the Harrington String Quartet, a distinguished
ensemble, established in 1981 by a generous gift from the late Sybil B.
Harrington. As a member of this quartet, Tomas just recorded Mendelssohn’s
string quintets with violist James Dunham and producer Blanton Alspaugh in
honor of Mendelssohn’s bicentennial for release in early 2010. Mr. Cotik toured
with the quartet throughout Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. The quartet’s
concerts were broadcasted by HPPR. As quartet in residence at WTAMUUniversity the group
collaborated with the dance, English and history departments to create
innovative projects.
